Dr. Carsten Nicolaus, MD, Medical Director
Born in Lower Saxony, Dr. Nicolaus moved to Regensburg to study Medicine. He received his license to practice medicine in 1988. Dr. Nicolaus completed his PhD at the TU Munich, the clinic „Rechts der Isar“ in 1989 with a thesis entitled “Biologischer Nachweis von Cyclosporin A im Serum nach allgemeiner Nierentransplantation basierend auf der Hemmung der Interleukin-2-Produktion”.
In 1990, he began to work as a General Practitioner in Bergheim (Augsburg). In 2006, he opened the BCA- clinic to focus on the treatment of tick-borne diseases. Dr. Nicolaus is a member of ILADS and became ILADEF Board Director in 2012 and additionally ILADEF Treasurer in 2013.

Sigrid Blehle, MD, MBA, General Practioner
Mrs Blehle studied human medicine in Gießen, Germany, and received her medical license in 1989. In 1995 she successfully completed her specialised training as General Practitioner. Afterwards Mrs Blehle worked in several management positions as well as consultant within and outside of the German Health System. From 2010 to 2011 she successfully completed her studies in Health Economy with a diploma as Health Economist (ebs) and a MBA in Health Care Management. Mrs Blehle has substantial medical knowledge in particular rheumatology and autoimmune diseases and a profound expertise in management. In March 2017 she joined BCA-clinic.
She is a member of the German Borreolosis Association (Deutschen Borreliose Gesellschaft) and of ILADS.
Dr. Horst-Günter Maxeiner, MD, Specialist in Microbiology and Infection Epidemiology
Dr. Maxeiner obtained his license in 1984, completed his PhD in 1988 at the TU Munich and became a Laboratory Specialist in 2000 in Hamburg. Prior to his work in Augsburg, Dr. Maxeiner worked in different parts of the world; he has primarily worked in Great Britain but also in Dubai and the United States.
Olga Spasskaya, Specialist in General Medicine
Mrs. Spasskaya has worked for Dr. Nicolaus‘ team since 01.05.2015. Born in Nowgorod (Russia), she completed her studies in General Medicine at the State University of Saratow and received her license in 1981. She worked in several clinics in the former Soviet Union and in Russia until 2002. In 2015, she received her license for General Medicine from the Bavarian State Medical Board.
Darko Jung, Specialist in Microbiology, Virology and Infection Epidemiology
Darko Jung is from Croatia and has lived and worked in Germany since 2012. After his medical studies at the University of Zagreb, he received his license in 1979 and graduated as specialist for microbiology, virology and infection epidemiology in 1988. Before he started working for the BCA-clinic on 01.10.2015, Dr. Jung was working in Bad Blankenburg (Thuringia) as a doctor in a specialized clinic.

Claudia Schuhmair, General Practitioner
Mrs. Schuhmair received her license in 1990 and has worked as a „General Practitioner“ since 1996. She was born in Augsburg and completed her practice with various additional specializations: homeopathy (1996), acupuncture (2006) and traditional Chinese medicine (2004-2006). Since 2008, she has worked as a freelancer within the Private Practice Dr. Nicolaus in the BCA-clinic.
